Election turns left
Politics November 8th. 2006, 8:30pmWow, what an amazing day yesterday. Never in my wildest thoughts did I ever imagine the Democrats pulling off the trifecta - winning back the House, the Senate and taking over the majority of the country’s Governorships. In fact, the party of the left was able to flip 43 House, Senate and Governor seats. 43! That is one huge number.
Mark Tapscott summed things up in the aftermath of election, “When Republicans worry more about staying in government than about limiting government, they get thrown out of government. That’s the lesson of Nov. 7, 2006.”
I was a little stunned that J.D. Hayworth lost his House seat in Arizona (a solidly red state). Fred Barnes of the Weekly Standard agrees.
So what is the GOP to do? If you listen to Rush Limbaugh and his conservative brethren, it’s time for Republicans to return to their conservative roots. Here, however, is a more cogent analysis.
